FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS A DECAL?
DeCal stands for Democratic Education at Cal. It is a program at UC Berkeley that allows students to create and facilitate courses not already offered by the school. These classes are student-led, but they are real university classes. For more info on DeCals, visit the official DeCal website.
WHO CAN TAKE THIS CLASS?
Select UC Berkeley students may take this course. Attend an info session to learn more about how to apply and enroll for the class.
WILL YOU BE OFFERING THE CLASS AGAIN?
Every semester, we have to go through the approval process for the course. We have been approved every semester since our start in Spring 2019 and will be submitting our course again. As for future semesters, we hope to keep offering this DeCal for as long as we can.
WILL THE CLASS BE WEBCAST?
Yes! Previously, DeCals were not recorded classes but because of Covid-19 the university is taking measures to encourage social distancing and make classes accessible for all who may not return to campus for the fall. The webcast of this class will only be for students we have admitted.
WILL LECTURE MATERIALS BE POSTED ONLINE?
We might release lecture materials from time to time. Keep a lookout on this website.
